Dr Anderson is a 1972
graduate of the University of Melbourne Dental School. He is a very
experienced dentist. Dr Anderson is a dentist who is heavily committed
to the dental profession; he believes in careful logical dental care;
and, he has maintained his interest and enthusiasm for all of his many
years of dental practice. Dr Anderson maintains his dental standards by
interaction with his peers as well as regular attendance for continuing
dental education at conference, lectures and presentations. His
continuing (dental) Practice Development (CPA) rating is well above the
mandated, regulation requirement. Dr Anderson is on the Australian
Society of Occlusal Studies Victorian Branch committee and has
additional qualifications in this area.
Our two senior dental
assistants are fully qualified and this dental practice makes sure that
these qualifications are updated regularly.
One dental assistant
while not formally qualified had had extensive training and attends
regular courses in dentistry related subjects as viewed from a dental
assistant’s perspective. She is certified in infection control
procedures.
Our sterilization
assistant is responsible for making sure infection control standards are
met across the whole of the dental practice. She is not a dental
assistant but has become certified in dental infection control
procedures.
Our three dental
assistants job share as in this way they are able to manage both a
working life and home commitments particularly in relation to school age
children.
As well we have a
maintenance contractor who comes for three days each fortnight to
maintain our premises and our equipment. This means that maintenance
problem are tackled in a timely manner because, as most people
appreciate, there is always ongoing maintenance with buildings and
equipment, and this seems to be especially so in dentistry.
Mrs Anderson works
three days a week and co-ordinates the various roles. She can be called
the Dental Practice Manager. Mrs Anderson is a qualified Librarian but
since moving to Ballarat in 1977 has had extensive experience in dental
practice administration.
Dr Don Anderson’s
dental practice staffing tends to be stable. Staff have been with Dr
Anderson continuously from 4 to 25 years – so our dental patients have
become a sort of extended dental family and tend to be quite comfortable
in a dental environment which respects their individual differences
and expectations.
